The new DAERA Dead Wild Bird Online Form launched on the 19th July 2023. This new tool has been developed to enhance surveillance and make the reporting of any findings of dead wild birds much easier for members of the public going forward.
The reporting of dead wild birds is a key component of the Department’s Avian Influenza (AI) surveillance; DAERA collect some dead wild birds for AI surveillance purposes, to help understand if the virus is present in Northern Ireland (NI) and how it is distributed geographically.
Currently dead wild birds are reported to the DAERA telephone helpline, but the new online reporting tool will replace the DAERA helpline over the coming weeks. Please report any dead wild birds seen using this new reporting tool.
The Department encourages members of the public to report any sightings of dead wild birds and it is anticipated that this new reporting tool will make it much easier to do that.
