Event Details

Treasure Ireland at the National Churches Trust invites you to join them online on Wednesday 24th November at 11am to hear from Róisín Beirne, Committee member at SPAB Ireland who will discuss the SPAB approach and the importance of good maintenance.

Regular maintenance checks, and proactive maintenance repairs, helps to ensure the preservation of your treasured place of worship. Regular maintenance reduces the need for major repairs, saves money in the long-term and is more climate friendly. A simple way to ensure good maintenance practice is to have a regularly reviewed maintenance checklist or maintenance plan.

The SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) Manifesto was written by William Morris, Philip Webb and other founder members in 1877. It spoke of the need to “stave off decay by daily care, to prop a perilous wall or mend a leaky roof” and we at Treasure Ireland couldn’t agree more.

The SPAB campaign, Maintenance Week (19-26 November 2021), is a reminder for anyone who looks after a building – regardless of its age, type or purpose – of the simple, achievable steps they can take to prepare for the worst that winter can bring.

Treasure Ireland is delighted to welcome Róisín Beirne Committee member at SPAB Ireland who will discuss the SPAB approach and the importance of maintenance.

We are giving away fantastic SPAB Maintenance Calendars so please get in touch if you would like a copy sent out. You can either do this on the day itself or by emailing in advance to:
