LELP Board and Partnership Development Day 2023

Written on . Posted in .

On 3rd October 2023, we hosted our annual Board and Partner Development Day. 🌿 This is an opportunity to share the progress of LELP with those who we work closely with, and for our partners to network with one another for future development of their organisations.

This year we began the morning in Castle Archdale, with talks from our Programme Manager Elmarie Swanepoel, Director of RSPB Northern Ireland Joanne Sherwood, and a short talk from our Legacy Consultants.

With the help of Castle Archdale Boat Hire and Watersports and Erne Water Taxi we took a short trip across the Broad Lough to visit the ruins of White Island’s 12th century church and carved figures, followed by an informative presentation from Ronan McHugh of Love Heritage NI. This special island is identified as one of Lough Erne Pilgrim Way monastic sites. We also heard from Nancy Reed, who talked about the conservation work carried out by the local RSPB NI West Area Team.

Afterwards, with the guidance of Catherine Scott, Enniskillen Castle: Fermanagh County Museum Development Officer, we visited another monastic site – Caldragh Cemetery, home to the Janus figure. Followed by a chat with Michael Stinson regarding the Lough Erne Wildfowlers’ Council’s work with the Boa Island Breeding Wader Project.

A fantastic day! Check out some of the snap shots.
