The project aims to create enhanced and alternative access to Lough Erne by improving the awareness of its history and providing a social commentary of the activities and people that make up the Loughs landscape.
This project will be an extension of Erne Water Taxi’s current service, but in the form of a zero emission, fully electric passenger vessel, which would be larger and more accessible than Erne Water Taxi’s current 8 person boats. This is an opportunity to promote a new eco-tourism initiative for Lough Erne.
This project will work with community groups and specialist interest groups with links to the Lough and also provide access for local people who may not have had the opportunity to take a boat trip on Lough Erne by proving free to access tours.
The second part of the project will be a Podcast, talking to people who have a connection with Lough Erne, or who actively use, or work, on or around the shoreline of the Lough itself, helping to develop the living oral history and bring some of the stories of the Lough to life. The ability to record from a boat, Island or shoreline will improve the access to the Lough in the digital form.
