CEFF Project: The Past Recorded

This project will work in partnership with Ardess Community Association to digitise the Parish Records, record folklore of the region and set up a genealogical and heritage database and interpretation display in The Courthouse at 45 Main Street, Kesh.

The Death Records of Ardess Parish Church are in hard copy only and have become badly worn and will soon be unusable. The bound copy contains over 50,000 names and none have been added since 1998. The digitised version will allow access according to the name alphabetically, the year chronologically and the townland by summary.

In terms of local stories and folklore, some work has been undertaken in recording accounts from older people but, here to the information needs to be digitised for public access on interactive display.

The new Courthouse local services delivery hub, just opened on 14th October 2019, is accessible by all in the community Monday to Saturday 10.00 – 16.00. Match funding is being sought from the Department of Community Small Grant 2019 Program with The Courthouse Kesh Limited as lead and Ardess Community Association as partner.
